Second Bookout

I managed to return in one piece. My sore throat returned as well. No fever, but I’m having this blasted cough. They call it the ‘tekong cough’ or something. The long weekend before the book-in gave me too much rest. Saturday night’s trip to MOS resulted in a bad hangover the next day. I should have stayed at home, but then Joshua’s cousin Christopher was in town.

I had a crappy appetite on Sunday and Monday. The thought of going back in was damn depressing. All the meals I during those two days tasted bad. I felt sick and nauseous. But thank God I managed to snap out of it by Tuesday. My appetite returned to normal soon after.

This week was a bit stressful. We had three tests this week: M16 Technical Handling (TH), Individual Marksmanship Training (IMT), and lastly 2.4 km Run. I managed to scrape through TH and IMT. TH was almost a goner because I had a faulty weapon. IMT was manageable. I missed many targets, especially during the day test. The night test was surprisingly easy.

But that’s not the end. IMT is just simulated environment in an air conditioned chamber. Live firing will not be so easy. As for the 2.4 km run, 3 weeks of running aimlessly paid off. I managed to clock a pass timing of 11:58; much better than my previous timing of 13:50. Now I can work towards a better grade. A gold perhaps?

They let us out on Saturday morning at 1100. Christopher was back in town, so Joshua and I went to watch Resident Evil with him. It was a gory film, though most of it was censored away.

I have to go back later at 1945. St Michael the Archangel, defend us in our day of battle!
